Web Development & Game Development

Two updates in this post, firstly I'd like to direct your attention to a game currently in development which I'm following closely Infinity: The Quest For Earth.
Infinity is an MMO space game, with twitch based combat (genuine skill, not silly "skill trees" like other MMOs I could mention), a player driven economy and an entire galaxy - that's millions and millions of stars, Probably billions of planets! Obviously this content is procedurally generated, which I'm a big proponent of so it gets my vote. Why am I posting about it on this blog? well when we first heard of the game me and a few friends started a player corporation on the forums, the game hasn't even been released in beta yet but so what? I've been tasked with building a website for Nos Operor Corporation, follow it's development along that link - I'll be deploying the forum software I developed for this site fairly soon.

Second thing I wanted to talk about, and this is so much more exciting, is that I managed to pull together a couple of chaps from university to work with me over the summer building a game. We're planning to distribute the game over steam if possible, all I'm going to tell you is this:

The game is called Myriad

There are no skill trees in real life and it still manages to be persistent ;)
That's how infinity operates.

If a game isn't skill tree'd then there is no rpg element to it all? no growth or persistance? or is it persistent via what ship/guns/inventory you own instead?
